Wholesale food, fruit and vegetable prices went up and down in the week from September 28 to October 2. Figures below are as of October 2, compared with the base period.
Lettuce rose the most, up 47.15% to 0.98 euros from 0.67 euros. Among vegetables, tomatoes climbed the most, up 16.99% on the base week to 1.68 euros a kilogram. Peaches cost 8.23% more and apples 5.73% more.
Carrots fell 10.29%, potatoes 8.95%, courgettes 6.32%, mature onions 5.82% and green peppers 5.41%.
Among staple foods, sunflower oil dropped the most, down 6.15% to 1.68 euros a litre from 1.79 euros. A kilogram of rice fell 3.89% to 1.58 euros from 1.64 euros, while type 500 flour slipped to 0.64 euros a kilogram from 0.67 euros a week earlier. Sugar rose to 0.93 euros a kilogram from 0.92 euros, and mature beans went up 2.37% to 2.16 euros from 2.11 euros. Lentils cost 2.01 euros, down from 2.03 euros in the base period.
Among dairy products, a kilogram of Vitosha-style hard cheese rose to 9.50 euros from 9.36 euros, and cow's milk cheese climbed to 6.16 euros from 6.10 euros. Butter fell to 1.42 euros for a 125-gram pack, from 1.45 euros. Size M eggs held at 0.19 euros each.
Frozen chicken stood at 3.56 euros a kilogram at the end of the week, little changed. Chicken thigh was 3.00 euros and chicken breast 6.53 euros. Short-life sausages rose to 3.60 euros a kilogram, while long-life boiled-and-smoked salami fell to 6.28 euros.
