At this moment, there is no need for Bulgaria to request that Greece deploy Patriot missile systems near the border. This was stated by Minister of Defense Dimitar Stoyanov during a hearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Defense, in response to a question from Member of Parliament Radoslav Ribarski of the "We Continue the Change" parliamentary group.
Stoyanov emphasized the high level of security provided during the stay of U.S. military aircraft at the Bezmer air base. "The area around Bezmer was arguably the most heavily guarded point in the country while the American planes were there. The measures taken were of an exceptionally high level," the Minister pointed out.
On August 22, Dimitar Stoyanov officially confirmed that the previous day, the U.S. Air Force tanker aircraft had departed from the Bezmer air base and left Bulgarian territory.
