Delyan Peevski: DPS Supports the Draft Budget for 2026

"I support the budget. Everything we have requested for the people is there." These words, spoken by the leader of "DPS-New Beginning" Delyan Peevski to reporters in the corridors of the National Assembly, reflect the party's decisive support for the draft budget for 2026. He stressed that the budget provides for the preservation of the increase in salaries of employees in the security sector, as well as the military, along with the planned capital program for the municipalities through the Bulgarian Development Bank.

"I said that I would support this government for the sake of the people. Everything is inside (the budget, author's note) and is happening," Peevski emphasized. This position highlights the focus on the social priorities laid down in the draft budget.

Yordan Tsonev also confirmed that "DPS-New Beginning" supports the draft budget. "We are not inclined to concessions," he said, commenting on the dissatisfaction expressed by the employers. The MP stressed that in recent years the business has received energy aid for a significant amount, which suggests the need to tighten relations regarding the obligations of the business to the state. According to Tsonev, the planned increase of 2% in the insurance burden is necessary due to the unbalanced state of the pension system. He also stated that the formation at this stage does not support the abolition of the flat tax.

In response to a question regarding the lifting of sanctions under the global "Magnitsky" Act, Delyan Peevski said that he is appealing the US sanctions and that when this process is completed, the UK sanctions will also be lifted. Peevski emphasized that he is appealing all sanctions legally.

When asked whether anyone had helped him with the lifting of the sanctions, the leader of "DPS-New Beginning" replied: "Everyone, when they were in the coalition, rushed to come and offer to help with these sanctions, I didn't ask anything from anyone." He also mentioned that Asen Vasilev, in the presence of Boyko Borisov, contacted Rumen Spetsov to inquire about the revisions against Peevski. The purpose of Vasilev, according to Peevski, was to make sure that all inspections were completed, "because it is very important for us to be clear that he has no problems."

Later, according to Peevski, there was a conversation in his office with Kiril Petkov, Asen Vasilev and Hristo Ivanov, where it was proposed: "We have a great desire to work with you, we can't stand Borisov. We want an alliance with you against Borisov." Peevski claims that Petkov, Vasilev and Ivanov told him that they have contacts to arrange the removal of the sanctions. According to Peevski, he was expected to agree to "retire" Borisov. They told him that this should be done "because we want to take his electorate." "I kicked them all out, went straight to Borisov and told him," Peevski revealed further.
