The State Agency for Refugees with the Council of Ministers (SAR with the CoM) successfully implemented a two-year project, funded under the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF), to ensure appropriate conditions for the reception and accommodation of third-country nationals in Bulgaria. The project achieved significant results, including the provision of food, security services and coverage of operating costs in the SAR centers.

On May 30, 2025, the State Agency for Refugees at the Council of Ministers (SAR at the CM) held a final online event for a project funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) for the period 2021-2027. The project, implemented from September 1, 2023 to June 1, 2025, aimed to provide suitable conditions for the reception and accommodation of third-country nationals in accordance with Bulgaria's commitments to international protection.

The total value of the project is 18,707,354.20 BGN, of which 75% or 14,030,515.65 BGN is from European funding, and 25% or 4,676,838.55 BGN is from national co-financing. During the final event, the results of the implementation, key indicators, conclusions on sustainability and impact, as well as opportunities for applying good practices in future projects were presented.

Among the most significant achievements are the food provided for 35,095 unique individuals for a period of 29 months, the security services provided in 6 territorial units for 25 months, as well as the covered utility costs for 29 months, including a retroactive period. All project indicators were achieved and exceeded.

The event brought together representatives of institutions, partners, experts in the field of asylum and migration, as well as stakeholders from civil society. Participants emphasized the importance of the conditions provided in the SAR at the CM centers and the role of AMIF in the sustainable development of the national system for international protection.

The project was implemented with the financial support of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) for the 2021–2027 programming period.
