Deputy Prime Minister Karadzhov announced the closure of the State Automobile Inspection. Control functions are transferred to the Ministry of Interior, and the remaining functions to the automotive administration. Legislative changes are expected by the end of the year.

The State Motor Vehicle Inspection has no work on the road. This categorical statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications Grozdan Karadjov on bTV. The decision, as the minister emphasized, is clear: "We are liquidating this inspection, they will no longer be on the road, they will not control, and we are ending the conversation with that".

The reorganization envisages that the control functions of the motor vehicle inspectors will be transferred to the Ministry of Interior, while those that are subject to European regulations and directives will remain within the framework of the Motor Vehicle Administration. Work on legal changes is already underway, and they are expected to be ready by the end of next week and to be considered by the National Assembly by the end of the year.

In the context of the recent case involving two inspectors from the Executive Agency "Motor Vehicle Administration", accused of requesting and receiving a bribe from carriers, related to a concert in the capital on September 28, the minister was categorical: "there is no umbrella over anyone in the agency". Karadjov again admitted that he had underestimated the problem of corruption.

The new management, which took office eight months ago, has already taken measures. So far, ten employees have been fired. Reports of racketeering and requests for bribes, known as "peace tax", have reached the institutions. Although there are no documents for direct submission to the prosecutor's office, the signals have been checked. The minister explained that the dismissals were undertaken in response to these signals.

Regarding the floods on the Black Sea coast, Minister Karadjov addressed a wider problem. He emphasized the need to deal with the recurring mistakes related to overdevelopment, motivated by greed for profit, and the lack of control. Karadjov raised the question of the permits issued by the basin directorates for construction in the affected areas.

Against the background of the expectations for the introduction of the euro, Karadjov announced the progress in the training of employees in the post offices. This is a key step in the process of exchanging leva for euros, which is due to start on January 1, 2026. He assured that security of the post offices has been organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior.
