The Finance Ministry is in the final stage of drafting the budget bills, and the tax laws will go to the tripartite council next week, deputy prime minister and finance minister Galab Donev said.

"We are working hard to finalise the draft budget laws," he said at the opening of a meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation (NCTC).

Donev promised that all budget and tax drafts will go through the council. It will discuss the draft tax laws, the state budget, the budget of the health insurance fund and the state social security budget.

The NCTC's budget policy committee will meet as early as this week. The finance minister said the social partners will be able to go over all the details of the proposals there. Informal meetings with employers and trade unions will also take place before the council meets.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB) has asked in a letter for an extraordinary NCTC meeting. The union wants to talk about preparing the 2027 state budget, tax changes, incomes and money for public sector pay. The letter also raises the changes to the structure and work of the state administration and the public sector, which have already been drawn up.

The agenda of the current meeting includes drafts from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy that did not win unanimous backing from members of the NCTC's standing committees. The chair of parliament's Committee on Labour, Demographic and Social Policy is also asking the council for its opinion on a bill to amend the Labour Code.
