The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgi Georgiev, emphasized that the relations between Bulgaria and Moldova are based on deep historical and cultural ties, developing in a spirit of mutual respect and partnership. During his meeting with the Chairman of the Parliament of Moldova, Igor Grosu, the two discussed the rich bilateral agenda, including the excellent cooperation in the field of energy and Bulgaria's support for Moldova's efforts to diversify its energy sources.
Georgiev and Grosu underlined the exceptional importance of the Bulgarian community in Moldova, numbering around 60,000 people, to be strongly engaged in the social processes in Moldovan society, in order to build upon the traditionally close relations between the two peoples. The Bulgarian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to the Moldovan people and institutions for the conditions created, contributing to the preservation of the national, cultural and linguistic identity of the Bulgarian community.

The two leaders also highlighted the importance of inter-parliamentary dialogue and parliamentary diplomacy as essential elements in the development of the bilateral partnership. The importance of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries through the exchange of experience and good practices, as well as active communication within the framework of international parliamentary forums, was emphasized.
