Code@Burgas 2026: Student Programming Competition in Burgas (May 16)

The Code@Burgas student programming competition will be held for the eighth time on May 16 in Burgas. This was announced by Assoc. Prof. Dimitar Minchev, program coordinator of the Council for "Informatics and Computer Science" at Burgas Free University, during a press conference at the BTA national press club in Burgas, dedicated to the 17th International Informatics Tournament for the Advanced.

Code@Burgas is aimed at students from 4th to 12th grade and features free participation. The competition is held online and follows an established regulation, with participants solving problems using the C++ programming language. The terms are published on the initiative's official website. The competition is implemented through an electronic system for automatic checking of solutions, where participants solve algorithmic problems. The competition is individual and is structured into three age groups.

Assoc. Prof. Minchev pointed out that the competition aims to support students' efforts, the teaching of competitive programming in the city, and their preparation for national and international forums, which is why it is open, free, and accessible to all children of this age who wish to participate.

During the event, it was emphasized that traditions in competitive informatics exist in Burgas, but the development of student preparation is largely due to the enthusiasm of individual teachers and schools. Such initiatives aim to encourage logical thinking and the ability to solve algorithmic problems.
