Fuel in the EU: Trends in June 2026

The latest data from the statistical agency Eurostat reveals a dynamic picture regarding the prices of fuels and lubricants for personal vehicles in the European Union. In June 2026, prices rose by 13.7% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Despite the annual growth, the statistics show a clear decline in the monthly rate of increase, with June marking lower values compared to April and May.

Which countries are most affected?

  • Bulgaria: 26% year-on-year growth
  • Lithuania: 23.5%
  • Romania: 23.1%
  • Finland: 22%

The smallest increases were in Hungary (2.3%) and Poland (5.8%). For Bulgaria, this is a positive trend, as the annual jump in May was as much as 33.9%.

Monthly decrease in diesel and gasoline

On a monthly basis (June compared to May), there is a downward shift:

  • Diesel: 6.4% drop within the EU.
  • Gasoline: 4.2% drop within the EU.

The largest decreases in diesel prices were recorded in the Czech Republic (-11.3%), Poland (-9.7%), and Bulgaria (-9.4%). As for gasoline, only Cyprus and Italy reported a slight price increase, while in other countries, such as Sweden and Belgium, prices corrected significantly downward.
