The Council of Ministers adopted a Decision to designate the Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment “Burgasmed“ Ltd. in Burgas as a university hospital.

According to the Law on Medical Establishments, university hospitals are multiprofile or specialized, and they carry out activities in the following areas: clinical training of students and doctoral students in medicine and/or dental medicine and/or pharmacy; clinical training of students in specialties from the professional field “Healthcare”; postgraduate training of doctors, dentists, pharmacists, healthcare specialists.

The Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Minister of Health, determines which medical establishments or their clinics/departments acquire the rights of university hospitals/clinics or departments for the term of the approval.

The proposal of the Minister of Health is made on the basis of a reasoned request from the relevant rector of a higher education institution, coordinated with the head of the medical establishment.
