The State Puppet Theater in Burgas participated with great success in the 16th edition of the prestigious International Theater Festival held in the Turkish city of Eskisehir. The Burgas troupe took part with two performances of the production "Plums for Change", based on a popular Bulgarian folk tale. The actress Desislava Mincheva-Todorova stood out in the roles, skillfully provoking the emotional child audience and turning them into accomplices in the performance. The director of the production is Petar Todorov, the deputy director of the theater.
A day earlier, the actresses Nedelina Roselina and Desislava Mincheva impressed their Turkish colleagues with a workshop in which they revealed techniques for working with different puppets and presented some of the marionettes included in the theater's repertoire, which totals 76 performances.
The Burgas troupe enjoys exceptional authority among its colleagues, and its representatives often participate in creative workshops accompanying various festivals. In 2024 alone, the puppeteers from Burgas had 8 international events.
In the International Festival in Eskisehir, in addition to the Burgas troupe, individual artists and groups from Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, Romania, and Turkey also participated.
The State Puppet Theater in Burgas, directed by Hristina Arsenova, is currently preparing the 11th edition of the Puppet Days Festival, which traditionally has international participation and is one of the most anticipated summer events in the cultural agenda of the Municipality of Burgas. This year, the festival will be held from August 10 to 15 on the open-air stage "The Snail". Together with the guest set designer Ana Yogutchu, the team is also preparing a special street art show - a surprise for the residents and guests of Burgas.
The International Festival in Eskisehir is organized with the assistance of the Municipality of Eskisehir.
