New technologies in the service of Burgas security

Participants in the specialized training for operating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) under the international project Med-IREN (No. 101157707), funded by the Horizon Europe program, have officially received their certificates. The initiative aims to strengthen the resilience of critical infrastructure in the Mediterranean through innovative solutions.

"The knowledge acquired will allow for a faster response in crisis situations and precise monitoring of risk zones," the experts shared during the ceremony.

What did the training include?

  • Theoretical preparation: Regulatory framework, aviation safety, and disaster coordination.
  • Practical modules: Piloting, working with docking stations, analysis of thermographic data, and real-time information processing.

High-tech equipment for the municipality

Under the project, Burgas now has two powerful systems at its disposal:

  • DJI Matrice 3 TD Dock 2: Provided to the Regional Directorate for Fire Safety and Protection of the Population – Burgas, it allows for fully autonomous missions with automatic charging.
  • DJI Matrice 30 T: Equipped with a thermal camera and a high-resolution camera, it is an indispensable tool for detecting hot spots and field monitoring.

This success is another step for the Municipality of Burgas toward digitalization and the implementation of modern technological solutions to protect the population and critical infrastructure from fires and natural disasters.
