Burgas will draw up a new development plan next year, and for now the council is only gathering ideas for it, deputy mayor Vesna Baltina says. Baltina handles strategic development and ecology at the council.
The council's climate adaptation group is collecting the proposals. It met again as part of the "Regions for Climate" project to look at what the plan should include to help Burgas cope better with climate change. Baltina says the city needs a scientific approach to tackle it.
The plan will have seven priorities, grouped under themes such as the economy, health care, education, green measures, and how the administration runs.
Baltina said the plan usually follows national priorities, but those are not ready yet. Going by the EU's own priorities, she added, they are unlikely to differ much from the current ones.
