Boyko Borisov hopes Bulgaria will receive a derogation for Lukoil, similar to the German one. He commented on the appointment of a special administrator and excluded Petko Nikolov. A decision from the Security Council is pending.

GERB leader Boyko Borisov expressed hope that Bulgaria will receive a derogation today in connection with the sanctions imposed by the United States of America against "Lukoil". This derogation, according to him, should be identical to the one granted to Germany – for a period of six months.

In a comment to media representatives in Parliament, Borisov emphasized the importance of a timely decision. "I hope that we will receive a derogation today, like the one in Germany – for 6 months, so that we can calmly do all the things," he said, expressing optimism for a quick resolution of the situation.

Following today's meeting of the Security Council, the Prime Minister is expected to announce the name of the special administrator appointed to supervise "Lukoil". Borisov clarified that this will be one person. When asked if it was Petko Nikolov, Borisov answered in the negative.

According to the leader of GERB, the future special administrator has been pre-agreed with him. The responsibility for coordinating the nomination with the other coalition partners remains with the Prime Minister. Borisov did not confirm whether this has already been done with Delyan Peevski, leader of "DPS – New Beginning".

Borisov emphasized that the proposed special administrator possesses the necessary experience for the position. He added that the appointee is not related to either "Insaoil" or Peevski.

Turning to the question of whether it is possible for "Lukoil" in the country to be acquired through the Bulgarian Energy Holding, Borisov answered cautiously. "Let them appoint a special administrator, you see how dynamic the events in the world are, trillion-dollar funds are already appearing in the US, which are ready to buy the entire company, its entire business," he said, emphasizing the complexity of the geopolitical situation.
