The meeting between BCCI and the Chairperson of the Consumer Protection Commission, Maria Filipova, focused on the upcoming national information campaign related to the introduction of the euro as the official currency in Bulgaria. Mrs. Filipova informed the employers' organization about the Commission's plans to facilitate business in the transition to the euro, protect consumers, and exercise control over the domestic market.
In turn, the BCCI representatives expressed the Association's readiness to be an active partner in the campaign, ensuring the participation of its regional and sectoral structures and assistance in organizing events at the local level. The possibility of targeted information for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, which need timely expertise in the process of adapting to the new currency, was also discussed.
"BCCI will support the efforts of the Consumer Protection Commission to organize and conduct information campaigns locally. Timely information is the most important. Issues common to merchants and consumers have been raised, many of which are technical, e.g., the availability of euro cash sets to secure payments, the functioning of electronic systems and cash registers. Therefore, the success of the awareness campaign is to reach people even in the smallest settlements," said the Chairman of the BCCI Board, Rumen Radev.
