Refugee Policy: A New Leader with a Mission for Humanity and Support

At the center of international humanitarian activity stands out the expert Ivan Ivanov, who takes over the leadership of the State Agency for Refugees with rich professional experience in peacekeeping missions. His career includes a significant period as a UN employee, during which he managed a zone with a critical refugee concentration of over 5,000 people in conditions of active combat.

During the 140th Coordination Meeting, Ivanov outlined the strategic priorities before an audience of leading non-governmental organizations. In his presentation, he emphasized the exceptional importance of collective efforts to ensure life, security, and social adaptation for people forced to leave their native places.

The forum was occupied by representatives of more than ten authoritative organizations, including UNICEF-Bulgaria, Bulgarian Red Cross, "Council of Women Refugees in Bulgaria" Association, regional representations of the World Health Organization and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

A key moment of the meeting was discussing mechanisms for improving legal protection and social integration of asylum seekers in Bulgaria. Ivanov emphasized the need for a multidisciplinary approach and active partnership between institutions.

Official recognition for effective work came directly from Guillaume Simonyan - WHO representative in Bulgaria. In an official letter to the agency's leadership, he expressed gratitude for the exceptional organization of the "Healthy Together" initiative, realized on World Refugee Day - June 20.

Simonyan emphasized the deep humane meaning of the campaign, defining it as a message that affirms health as a universal right and human dignity as an indivisible value.

The new chairman demonstrated a categorical readiness to continue building an effective and empathetic support system for refugees, based on the principles of solidarity and mutual understanding.
