By 2025, over 12 Bulgarian producers receive certificates for "Bulgarian yogurt" and "White brine cheese" with Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). These products will be supplied to schools and kindergartens, ensuring 100% Bulgarian raw materials and a minimum of 80% local feed.

By July 2025, more than 12 companies in Bulgaria are certified with "Protected Designation of Origin" (PDO) for two main products - "Bulgarian Yogurt" and "Bulgarian White Brine Cheese". These articles are intended specifically for suppliers in schools and kindergartens.

The regulation requires the raw material to be 100% Bulgarian milk, and at least 80% of the feed to be grown within the country. These products will be offered under the "School Milk" and "School Fruit" programs, with previous BDS deliveries being eligible only until stocks are exhausted.

The goal is to ensure more transparent traceability of quality and origin, as well as to support domestic agriculture. This initiative was officially published in October 2024, and by the summer of 2025, the register of the Ministry of Agriculture contains the current companies with PDO.

This approach strengthens the link between traditional production and standards for safe and proven food in educational institutions.
