During the second day of his working visit to Chisinau, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Georgi Georgiev, held meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, as well as with the Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gerasimova. During the conversation with Minister Popșoi, the possibilities for expanding cooperation between the two countries were discussed, with a focus on Moldova's European integration and the excellent level of political dialogue.
Minister Georgiev stressed that Bulgaria is among the most active supporters of Moldova's European perspective, as stable, secure and prosperous countries in the region are of strategic importance for national and regional security. In the conversation with Vice Prime Minister Gureaşcov, the establishment of close institutional cooperation for the exchange of Bulgarian experience and good practices related to Bulgaria's pre-accession process to the EU was discussed. Interaction between the local authorities of the two countries was also encouraged.

Minister Georgiev highly praised the efforts of the Moldovan authorities to implement the recommendations of the European Commission and stressed Moldova's commitment to a consistent reform agenda, focused on strengthening the rule of law, fighting corruption and building strong institutions.
