Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georgi Gergiev held a meeting with his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavsky as part of the 20th edition of the GLOBSEC forum in Prague. The main topic of the conversation was Bulgaria's accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), which Gergiev identified as a key priority in the country's foreign policy.
"We count on the strong support of the Czech Republic and other EU member states in the OECD for our accession to the organization," said the Bulgarian Foreign Minister. For his part, Lipavsky confirmed that the Czech Republic supports Bulgaria's candidacy for OECD membership.
During the meeting, issues related to the expansion of the European Union, the deepening of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the Czech Republic in areas such as economy, education, science and defense, as well as issues related to security in Europe, including in the Black Sea region, were also discussed.
The ministers also discussed the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine. Georgi Gergiev stated that Bulgaria stands with Ukraine, the EU and international partners in calls for a full and unconditional ceasefire.
