Bulgarian Finance Minister at Eurogroup Meeting in Luxembourg

For the first time today, the Bulgarian Minister of Finance, Temenuzhka Petkova, attended as an observer at the regular meeting of the Eurogroup in Luxembourg, according to the press center of the Ministry of Finance. Until now, Bulgaria has only had the opportunity to participate in the meetings of the Eurogroup in the inclusive format, where all finance ministers of the member states of the European Union gather.

The event is taking place in the lively city of Luxembourg. The city is filled with politicians, diplomats, and journalists, and people from different countries, who have come to cover the meeting, can be seen around the building. The atmosphere is tense, considering the topics being discussed, which are of great importance for the future of the European economy.

The participation of Minister Petkova in the meeting of the finance ministers of the Eurozone represents a key step in the process of preparing our country for full membership in the Eurozone. This gives the Bulgarian side the opportunity to get acquainted closely with the processes and to prepare for the upcoming active participation in the meetings of the Eurogroup, which is expected to begin on January 1, 2026.

The economic prospects for the Eurozone were also discussed at the meeting, including the fiscal developments of the individual countries and the forecasts for the future of the member states. Special attention was paid to the preparation and positions of the finance ministers and governors of the central banks in connection with the upcoming meetings of the G-20 and the International Monetary Fund. Traditionally, these meetings are held at the end of October, and this year the host will be Washington, as is clear from the announcement. The meeting in Luxembourg marks an important stage in the preparation for these key international events.
