Today, the National Assembly continued its work with a turbulent plenary session, marked by numerous interruptions and political squabbles.
The inclusion of the second reading of amendments to the Climate Change Mitigation Act as the first item on the agenda set the tone for the dynamic development of events. This was followed by the first reading of amendments to the Statistics Act, which in itself represents a significant legislative act requiring careful consideration.
Unexpectedly, the need to add a new item to the agenda led to an extension of the legislative part of the plenary session. This, in turn, predetermined a more extensive parliamentary control, planned for three hours. The tension in the plenary hall intensified with a series of interruptions. The session was interrupted twice due to lack of quorum - a situation that highlights the difficulty of the parliament to work effectively in the current political climate. An additional interruption was requested by the parliamentary group "Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria".
The tension escalated with a new, fifteen-minute interruption, requested by the parliamentary group "Vazrazhdane". According to the information, the representatives of "Vazrazhdane" made harsh remarks to the Speaker of Parliament, Nataliya Kishilova, expressing dissatisfaction with the way the session was being conducted. "You are giving us grounds to demand your resignation", said Krasimira Katincharova, a representative of "Vazrazhdane".
Tension was felt in the hall, and Katincharova"s statements highlighted the internal conflict between the parliamentary groups.
The Speaker of the National Assembly responded to the criticism by promising a conversation with representatives of "Vazrazhdane_q_, in order to resolve the problems and prevent further escalation of tension. After a short break, three declared statements from parliamentary groups were announced, which promise further discussions and political debates.
