On June 5, 2025, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Nikolay Pavlov, held an official meeting with the newly appointed Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Bulgaria, H.E. Ms. Tapaswarage Priyangika Dharmasena. The two sides expressed a high appreciation for the long-standing traditionally friendly relations between Bulgaria and Sri Lanka and declared their readiness to intensify the political dialogue and encourage direct business contacts with a view to increasing trade exchange and expanding cooperation in priority economic sectors such as tourism, agriculture, and information technology. The importance of cultural and educational exchange between the two countries was emphasized.
