Bulgaria accelerates its path to the OECD

Bulgaria's accession to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) remains a leading foreign policy priority for the government. During a meeting in Paris, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova and OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating the process.

"We highly value the close, positive, and constructive cooperation with the OECD Secretariat," stated Minister Petrova.

Progress to date

• Reviews have been completed in 18 out of the organization's 25 working bodies.
• Bulgaria is in an excellent position to finalize the technical phase within the current year.
• The focus is on reforms to improve regulatory frameworks, competition, and the business environment.
