Successful conclusion of the 68th Danube River Swim
A total of 168 brave participants took part in the traditional mass swim across the Danube River near Svishtov. The event, held in the "Pametnitsite" area, once again proved that the sporting spirit has no age limit.
"The number of participants increases every year," noted Dr. Kristiyan Kirilov, Chairman of the Municipal Council in Svishtov.
Records and honors
- Youngest participants: 3-year-old Viktor Stoyanov and 4-year-old Raya Todorova from the town of Elena.
- Oldest participant: 79-year-old Vasil Galev from Pavlikeni.
- Most regular participant: Veliko Kazandzhiev, who conquered the river for the 60th time.
The organizers of the sports festival are the Municipality of Svishtov, the BRC (Bulgarian Red Cross), and the 55th Engineer Regiment – Belene. The safety of the swimmers was ensured by teams of lifeguards and boatmen who accompanied the participants along the kilometer-long route from the Romanian bank to the Bulgarian one.

This year, interest in the event surpassed last year's results, when 152 participants took part in the swim, reinforcing the tradition as one of the most significant summer sports events in the region.
