Inspiring Workshop with Dimitar Marinov: Humanity in the Leading Role

On April 29th at 5:30 PM in the “Petya Dubarova” hall in the "Morsko Kazino" Cultural Center, an inspiring creative workshop will be held on the topic: “In the Leading Role: Humanity”, led by Bulgarian actor with international recognition Dimitar Marinov and the Deputy Rector of the “Lyuben Groys” Theatre College, Mihail Mihailov.

The event will bring together students from leading artistic universities – NATFA, “Lyuben Groys” Theatre College, and the National Academy of Arts, as well as young talents from the “Pancho Vladigerov” National School of Music and Dance. The meeting is part of the initiatives surrounding the CEBS International Literary and Film Student Competition “Alef” – “He who saves a human life, saves an entire universe”, which this year expands its scope to include students.

The workshop will not be just a lecture, but an interactive experience in which participants will take on the role of creators. Through acting studies, improvisations, and work on real cases, the young artists will explore how to build a strong dramatic image, inspired by real human destinies. Under the guidance of Marinov and Mihailov, they will go through the process of creating short stage or film concepts – from the initial idea to its emotional recreation in front of an audience.

Dimitar Marinov, known for his participation in the film “Green Book”, awarded an “Oscar”, is the first Bulgarian actor to step on the stage of the Academy in Hollywood as part of an excellent team. In addition to his successful international career, he actively works with young people, encouraging them to seek the truth in art and to be socially engaged through their creativity.

Mihail Mihailov is an established theatre pedagogue and director, with many years of experience in training actors. As Deputy Rector of the “Lyuben Groys” Theatre College, he develops modern teaching methods, focused on practical work, emotional intelligence, and building stage presence.

At the center of the workshop will be the theme of choice – that moment when the ordinary person faces an extraordinary decision. Participants will seek answers through art: how courage is born, what it means to remain human in difficult times, and how these stories can be told in a way that touches the contemporary audience.

Special emphasis will be placed on the inspiring pages of Bulgarian history – the saving of nearly 50,000 Jews during World War II. The destinies of the saved and the rescuers, filled with courage and humanity, will serve as a starting point for creating new artistic interpretations.

The event is free and is open to all young people who believe that art can change the world – or at least make it more humane.
