Archaeology and Fiction: "Deultum Meets the Fierce One"

A silver amulet rolled into a tube, hiding the name of Christ and two archangels, is among the real artifacts that inspired the historical thriller "Deultum Meets the Fierce One". This is the second book in the "Provoked by Archaeology" series by Irina Vagalinska (Nous Publishing House), which takes us to the oldest Roman city on the territory of Bulgaria.

"Where does science end and fiction begin?" – this is the question that intrigues readers of the new historical novel.

In March 202 AD, Emperor Septimius Severus and his family visited Deultum to watch gladiatorial games. In the book, the battles take place both in the arena and in the behind-the-scenes intrigues that claim victims.

Scientific Consultants and Presentation

The actual existence of an amphitheater in the ancient city has been confirmed by researchers such as Krasimira Kostova (NAR "Deultum – Debelt") and Prof. Lyudmil Vagalinski, PhD (NAIM – BAS). Together with Prof. Dilyana Boteva-Boyanova, PhD (Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski"), they are the scientific consultants for the series.
