The Burgas International Film Festival (BIFF) will organize a special practical workshop on sound design in cinema as part of its 10th anniversary edition. The event will be held on July 17 and 18 and will be led by Danish sound designer and sound engineer Peter Albrechtsen, who has participated in over 250 film productions, including well-known titles such as "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", "The Cave", "Evil Dead: Awakening", "The Territory" and "Godless" (Bulgaria). Albrechtsen has received numerous international awards and recognition in the field of sound design.
The practical workshop will include theoretical and practical activities focused on building a sound environment in cinema, analysis of sound pictures from films, and presentation of different approaches in sound narrative. Participants will have the opportunity to work with examples from Peter Albrechtsen's professional practice and engage in sound design in specific genres such as documentary, horror, and experimental cinema. Field work for sound recording, subsequent processing, and discussion on the topic of "storytelling through sound" will also be organized. Participants will also receive useful guidance and advice for a career in the film industry as sound designers.
The workshop will be held in an intensive two-day format, lasting 4 to 6 hours per day, and will be in a small, focused group of up to 10 people, which will ensure individual attention, quality training, and the opportunity for professional exchange. Applications for participation are accepted until July 6.
The Burgas International Film Festival (BIFF) is organized with the financial support of the Municipality of Burgas and will be held from July 12 to 18, 2025.
