The performance "Samson and Delilah" opens the season at the Burgas Opera in 2026.

Burgas State Opera opens the 2026 theater season with the opera “Samson and Delilah” by Camille Saint-Saëns. The performance is scheduled for February 5, Thursday, at 7:00 PM on the stage of the Burgas Opera.

The original scenography, relying on a minimalist style, and lavish costumes, by Catalin Arbore (Romania) will complement the directorial techniques of Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev. Under the baton of Ivan Kozhuharov and with the participation of Daniela Dyakova, Kostadin Andreev, Alexander Krunev and other talented artists, “Samson and Delilah” promises a memorable performance.

The performance presents the biblical story of Samson and Delilah, with established opera artists in the main roles, who will get under the skin of the characters, creating psychological depth and achieving remarkable emotional impact.

The visual effects, which will be included through 3D mapping and multimedia (Nikola Peshev), are also impressive, to reinforce the perception of the messages of the biblical plot. An accent in the performance is Delilah's Aria (Mon cœur s’ouvre a ta voix).

The choir with conductor Alexander Chepanov and the ballet troupe will present important scenes, including the bewitching of Samson and the famous bacchanalia.

The concertmaster is Hristo Belchev, assistant directors: Lina Peeva and Petar Tiholov. The work is performed in French, with subtitles in Bulgarian, by Srebrina Slavova.
