Cyrano de Bergerac: Production Marks 15 Years of Art Atelier

In February, the Cultural Organization "Art Atelier" and its manager, Marusya Ruseva, are celebrating 15 years of active work in support of cultural and theatrical life in Bulgaria. As part of the program with which the organization marks its anniversary, you can watch the play "Cyrano de Bergerac" by Edmond Rostand. The play is directed by Stoyan Radev, the scenography is by Nikola Toromanov, the music is by Slavcho Nikolov, and the choreography is by Teodora Popova. In the role of Cyrano, the audience will see Kamen Donev, and the play also features Yassen Atanasov, Luizabel Nikolova, Georgi Kirkelanov, Tigran Torosyan, Vladislav Violnov, Vladimir Mateev, Eli Koleva, and graduates of the "Lyuben Groys" Theater College.

For more than a century, the story of Cyrano has excited audiences around the world – a romantic hero, poet, and swordsman who sacrifices his personal happiness in the name of love and honor. In the translation of Veselin Hanchev and the stage interpretation of Stoyan Radev, the play combines humor, poetry, and deep human drama.

The plot takes us to France in the 17th century and tells the story of Cyrano – a brilliant poet and brave soldier, hopelessly in love with his cousin Roxanne. Because of his complexes, he does not reveal his feelings and decides to "borrow" his eloquence to the handsome but insecure Christian, with whom Roxanne falls in love. The love triangle, self-sacrifice, and tragic ending turn "Cyrano de Bergerac" into one of the strongest romantic stories in dramaturgy.

The play will be performed on February 5th at 7:00 PM in the "Toncho Rusev" hall of the NHK Cultural Center. Tickets are sold at the NHK box office. The performance is part of the program with which the Cultural Organization "Art Atelier" celebrates its 15th anniversary.
