The library invites the public to meet Simeon Kolev — a journalist, radio host and writer whom many know as the host of the morning show "Starter" on BG Radio, where he has worked since the station's founding. He is also actively involved in causes promoting a better environment and a more engaged civil society. The meeting will take place on October 9, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. at the "Peyo K. Yavorov" Regional Library, with free admission.

During the talk, Kolev will present his latest book, "Bulgaria. From the Good Side." In it, he asks whether we can look at the country from its good side and develops the idea of "objective optimism" — the belief that one's attitude toward life is a personal choice. According to the author, reality can be viewed from different angles, and everyone decides for themselves whether to see only the problems or to also notice what has been achieved.

The book doesn't try to bring readers to tears, nor does it champion ideals or call for revolutions — it neither glorifies nor belittles. Instead, it points to the good examples around us, achieved through hard work, persistence and responsibility — examples that make our lives better and more comfortable but that we often fail to notice. Kolev also speaks of the need for a "pragmatic patriotism" that relies more on awareness and responsibility than on lofty words.

The meeting will also touch on the country's social and political climate. The author believes that optimism doesn't mean turning a blind eye to difficulties, but rather being able to recognize positive changes and opportunities for development. The conversation will cover topics such as pragmatic solutions, infrastructure, functioning institutions, and the need for a more balanced public narrative grounded in facts and real examples of progress.
