My Heart Resembles a Harbor: A Book About Hristo Fotev

"I have no idea how such a completely finished, only and solely poet appeared," begins Kerana Angelova's book about Hristo Fotev, "My Heart Resembles a Port", a heartfelt touch to the man, the legend, the poet. The author seems to be wondering about the mystery of creativity, about the forces that shaped a poet whose works have left a lasting mark. She reflects on the "universal winds" that bent and gave form to the energy to find it a "physical body suitable for the purpose".

She describes the poet with images of a "coastal tree dreaming it is walking", and with shoulders, "curved like the wings of a bird, of an exquisite cormorant from the shores of the Golden Horn", merging him into a trinity of a poet: tree, bird, and human.

The book is a collection of memories and essayistic miniatures about Hristo Fotev. It promises an intimate look at the life and personality of the poet.

"Let my reader not expect anything sensational, nor yellow in my memories of him, God forbid. I just wanted to tell the current generation of young poets of Burgas, and to all who lived at the same time as him, but did not know him, their memories, because he was not always the sculpture in the Sea Garden, in front of which they lay flowers and recite his poems. I wanted them to feel him alive", shares Kerana Angelova, striving to bring the poet back to the present, far from the image of a silent sculpture. She shares the feeling that Fotev is speaking again, adding: " as if he is still telling us confidingly: "

" But I am alive - I am at the station at nine under the golden luminescent disc. The locomotive is an awakened swan. I accept the admirable risk

To be alive, not some superfluous And dead Hristo Fotev to be I…"

With these words, quoted from Fotev's work, the book seems to resurrect the spirit of the poet, making him live again.

The presentation of the book "My Heart Resembles a Port" will take place on November 4th at 6:00 PM in the Burgas City Art Gallery, located at 24 "Metropolitan Simeon" St. Admission is free for all who wish to attend. The atmosphere in front of the gallery is lively. People are eagerly awaiting the event, and the excitement can be felt in the air.
