On August 29, at 6:00 PM, the International Congress Center at the Sea Station in Burgas will host the official presentation of the ambitious youth project “Pierrot.” The event, which is expected to attract the attention of the cultural community, will show how young talents can create innovative solutions in the field of art.

What is the “Pierrot” project?

The project, the work of four students from the city, is a fully developed online platform. Its main function is to serve as a comprehensive information portal for all theatrical productions in Bulgaria. Until now, such a centralized database was lacking, which often made it difficult for the public to navigate the country’s rich but scattered cultural offerings.

The main goal of Pierrot is to remove these barriers and make theatrical art more accessible and attractive to young people.

The platform is not limited to providing information but aims to build an active and engaged community. For this purpose, it allows every registered user to join a dialogue by sharing their opinions, comments, reviews, or critiques of productions they have visited. This interactive element is key to encouraging critical thinking and creating a bridge between spectators and creators.

Support and funding

The idea for the project arose several months ago and quickly gained recognition. The young team managed to secure funding of 4,548 leva within the #BeLocal – Culture, Art, and Historical Heritage category. This is part of Lidl Bulgaria’s large-scale socially responsible initiative "You and Lidl for our tomorrow", which is carried out in partnership with the "Workshop for Civil Initiatives" Foundation and the Bulgarian Donors’ Forum. This financial support was crucial in turning the idea into a reality and demonstrates the commitment of businesses to the development of young talents.

Throughout the development process, the four students were supported by the team at the Burgas International Youth Center. Their mentors provided invaluable assistance, guiding the young creators in the implementation of the project and helping them achieve their goals. This support is an example of effective cooperation between institutions and civil initiatives, which enables young people to realize their potential.
