In Burgas, on November 13th, 2025, there will be a premiere of a book about the actress Katya Paskaleva and a film about her life. The event is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the actress's birth and will take place at the Grand Hotel Primoretz.

Grand Hotel & SPA Primoretz in Burgas will become the stage for a special event that will bring together cinema and literature enthusiasts on November 13, 2025 (Thursday) at 6:00 PM. A literary and film premiere dedicated to one of the great stars of Bulgarian cinema is forthcoming.

The occasion is the 80th anniversary of the birth of Katya Paskaleva, an actress who left a lasting mark on Bulgarian culture. Journalist and producer Georgi Toshev will present his biographical book about her - "Silence of Words". Simultaneously, guests will have the opportunity to see the film "Katya and the Elephant. Their Plovdiv", which tells the story of the actress's love for the famous artist Georgi Bozhilov. Admission to the event is free and all are welcome.

Many stars shine on stage and on screen before disappearing from the public's view. Katya Paskaleva, however, remains one of the mysteries of Bulgarian cinema and theater, continuing to excite the imagination even today. It is interesting that in her first film, the actress plays the silent Nayme. The irony of fate accompanies her to the end of her life, when she loses the most precious thing for an actress - her voice. Despite this, Katya Paskaleva remains in the memories of her family and fans as a person who, with her mere presence, managed to change perceptions.

The actress has appeared in over 50 Bulgarian and foreign films. The audience remembers her as Stefka from "Vila Zona", Tana from "Matriarchate" and, of course, as Maria from the masterpiece of Metodi Andonov "The Goat's Horn". The film, considered a peak in Bulgarian cinema, catapults Katya Paskaleva to the top and brings her, along with the rest of those involved in the project, numerous awards and recognition. In tribute to the actress, Georgi Toshev dedicates the biographical book "Silence of Words". It includes personal photos and notes from the actress, written in the hospital, after she had already lost her voice.

"Some people enter your life as a role you've been waiting for your whole life. Katya Paskaleva was like that – a presence from another dimension, a woman with many voices, an actress who refused to play her life according to a preliminary script. This book is not a biography. It is a trace. A trace of a voice that still whispers. Of silence that has turned into the deepest line. A story about the encounters that were never accidental. About the roles that are more real than life itself. About the cracks through which the light enters – and through which the soul escapes. Katya did not disappear. She just changed the stage," says Georgi Toshev about the remarkable actress and the book he dedicated to her.

The film, which will be presented at "Primoretz", is entitled "Katya and the Elephant. Their Plovdiv". It tells about the different aspects of the actress's life, emphasizing her love for the famous Plovdiv artist Georgi Bozhilov, also known as the Elephant. The film takes us into the cultural atmosphere of the group of artists in Plovdiv in the late 60s and early 70s. The title marks 80 years since the birth of Katya Paskaleva and 90 years since the birth of Georgi Bozhilov. The director of the documentary is Georgi Toshev, and the project was carried out with the support of Plovdiv Municipality.

The atmosphere in the hotel is charged with anticipation. Guests slowly take their seats, lively conversations sound in the hall. On 11/13/2025 (Thursday) at 6 p.m. in _q_Primoretz_, Burgas, there will be a meeting with Katya Paskaleva, a remarkable lady who will come alive again in stories, pages and film, presented by journalist and producer Georgi Toshev. Admission is free, everyone is welcome to this cultural event.
