On August 23 at 18:00, the Cultural Center "Marine Casino" will host a significant literary event. In the "Peta Dubарova" hall, the autobiographical book "I Did What I Could" by Alfred Foscolo - a person with an intriguing fate between Bulgaria and France - will be presented.

Born in Sofia in 1942, Foscolo comes from a mixed marriage - a Bulgarian mother and a French father. His life path went through dramatic trials related to the political system of the People's Republic of Bulgaria. In 1949, his family moved to Paris, where young Alfred graduated in law and Bulgarian philology.

A key moment in his biography is the arrest in 1968, when he was sentenced to 15 years in prison for distributing leaflets with a European orientation. Despite the repression, he remained faithful to the idea of civil rights and democratic values.

The presentation will be carried out by Atanas Popov - a Bulgarian intellectual living in Luxembourg, who actively promotes the work of Bulgarian authors abroad. Admission to the event is completely free.

Co-organizer of the premiere is the People's Community Center "Far 1946" from Burgas, which continues the tradition of presenting significant literary works.
