The Burgas branch of the Polish Cultural and Educational Society "Władysław Warneńczyk_, in cooperation with the Polish Consulate and the Polish Institute, will present for the third time the traditional Polish Folk Literary Reading.
The event, planned for September 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Open Stage "Snail_, will immerse Burgas in the atmosphere of Polish literature and culture.
The organizers expect the participation of members of the Polish community in Bulgaria, lovers of the Polish language, and all admirers of Polish culture.
The reading will be held entirely in Polish, offering a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the language and cultural context of the works.
Focus on Jan Kochanowski
This year, the focus is on the works of Jan Kochanowski – one of the most significant Polish poets, whose works are considered peak achievements of the European Renaissance. His work, harmoniously combining classical education and a strongly expressed national identity, is considered a symbol of the Polish spiritual tradition.
The choice of Kochanowski provides an opportunity for an in-depth examination of his influence on the development of Polish poetry and culture.
A Tradition Gathering Poles of Different Generations
The initiative, revived in 2012 with a reading of "Pan Tadeusz" by Adam Mickiewicz – a book that laid the foundation for modern Polish literature – is an annual event that has become a tradition, bringing together Poles of different generations and cultural backgrounds around the world.
Through this project, Poland and the Polish communities demonstrate a unique literary solidarity, sharing selected works from their rich literary canon.
Purpose of the Event
The main goal of the Polish Folk Literary Reading is to stimulate interest in reading as a form of contact with culture, to present the richness and diversity of Polish literature in a contemporary context, and to strengthen the cultural and national identity of Poles.
The event is also a wonderful opportunity for the foreign audience to get acquainted with the values of Polish spirituality and its rich literary heritage.
The initiative is implemented with the financial support of the Polish Ministry of Culture and is under the patronage of the Polish Presidential Couple, which underlines its importance and status.
