CULTURAL BRIDGE IN BURGAS: "THE CHIME OF CICADAS" UNITES POETRY WITH THE CITY'S HERITAGE
The cultural scene in Burgas is preparing to welcome one of the most anticipated events of the autumn season, combining literature, visual art, and local historical heritage. On October 2, 2025, exactly at 6:30 PM, the Cultural and Educational Center for Contemporary Art and Library Burgas will host the official presentation of the poetry book "The Chime of Cicadas".
The event, which aims to enrich the cultural calendar of the seaside city, is realized with the essential assistance of Burgas Municipality and the support of the Cultural and Educational Center itself. The overall organization and conceptual framework fall under the umbrella of the Foundation for Art and Culture "Pendarium". The driving force behind the foundation and the author of the collection of poems is Tatyana Koseva, who is also the chairman of the organization.
"The Chime of Cicadas" is presented as a large-scale conceptual creative project, transcending the traditional boundaries of literature. Through the intertwining of poetry and art, the work strives to express the most intimate, universal, and eternal quests inherent to the human soul.
The symbol of the cicada takes center stage in the work. It was not chosen by chance – in the project, the cicada functions as an archetype of the soul. According to the author's concept, similar to the insect emerging after a long period of silence and metamorphosis, the soul finally "comes out to speak itself". The poetic texts included in the collection focus on a wide spectrum of strong emotions and states, with loneliness, love, joy, sadness, and transformation among the leading themes.
The exceptional artistic value of the book is also highlighted by its visual design, which was entrusted to Tsvetelina Rusalieva. In this aspect, the project creates a direct and particularly significant link to the history of Burgas. Tsvetelina Rusalieva is a descendant of Panayot Rusaliev, who held the position of the city's first mayor.
Thus, although the poetry itself is not directly thematically related to the seascape and life in Burgas, it finds its natural and strong harbor in the city through the intersection of contemporary creativity and historical heritage.
Program and Mission of the "Pendarium" Foundation
The upcoming evening will offer the audience a rich and multi-layered program. Besides selected poems from "The Chime of Cicadas" being read, attendees will have the unique opportunity to view the paintings of Tsvetelina Rusalieva, which visually correspond with the poetic motifs. A highlight of the event will also be the presentation of the mission of the "Pendarium" Foundation. This cultural organization aims to serve as an active bridge connecting cultural heritage with the needs and expressions of modernity.
