A SILVER-category padel tournament starts today, 17 October, at 8am at Padel Club Tomsi in Burgas. Tom Tennis and Scooterel are the organisers. Because of changeable weather, the event has been cut from two days to one.
Players compete for first place and prizes. The organisers have also planned extra awards and surprises.
The day opens with a welcome, registration and morning coffee until 8:50am. Ten minutes later, the rules will be explained. The first matches run from 9am to 12:30pm.
Lunch is from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. Players and spectators will get a barbecue, music, games and surprises, and prizes are on the programme too. Matches then continue until 3:30pm. From 3:30pm to 5pm, the knockout rounds and semi-finals take place.
The final runs from 5pm to 6pm, followed by the awards ceremony from 6pm to 6:30pm. The tournament ends at 6:30pm with photos and a closing. The times of the final matches are approximate.
Competitors, friends and fans of an active lifestyle will all play. The organisers invite people from Burgas and visitors to the city to come and cheer on the players.
They say the day is meant as a celebration of friendship, good spirits and shared feelings, with the competition only one part of it.
The tournament is held with the support of friends and business partners of Scooterel. The organisers say this shows that sport and business together can create worthwhile events for the city.
Padel is among the fastest-growing sports in the world.
