An emotional clash of two worlds

On May 15, at 7:00 PM, the stage of the State Opera – Burgas will come alive with Giacomo Puccini’s timeless classic, "Madama Butterfly." Directed by Prof. Dr. Alexander Tekeliev and conducted by Ivan Kozhuharov, the performance promises a profound psychological experience.

"Madama Butterfly" is not just an opera, but a story about the clash between Eastern loyalty and Western pragmatism.

Star cast and artistic vision

In the role of Cio-Cio-San, we will see opera prima Yoana Zhelezcheva, whose portrayal requires exceptional vocal technique. She is joined by:

  • Georgi Dinev – Lieutenant Pinkerton
  • Valeri Turmanov – Consul Sharpless
  • Lina Peeva – the devoted Suzuki

The minimalist set design by Boris Stoynov and the exquisite costumes by Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova transport the audience into the atmosphere of early 20th-century Japan, highlighting the tragic metamorphosis of the protagonist.

Why should you attend the performance?

The story of the "Butterfly" is a poignant lesson in self-sacrifice, fidelity, and dignity. The Burgas Opera invites you to witness this musical event, which cleanses the spirit through the power of art.

Tickets can be purchased at the Opera box office, the "Chasovnika" (Clock) box office (in front of Hotel Bulgaria), as well as through the Grabo and Eventim networks.
