Burgas Literary Awards 2025: Expectations and Details

Burgas will once again become the center of literary life! In early December, the ceremony for the presentation of the Annual Literary Awards of Burgas Municipality for 2025 is expected. This is a traditional initiative that pays tribute to the most remarkable artists and works created by authors whose work is related to the city. The atmosphere is always filled with anticipation, and near the stage, the excitement of the candidates, as well as their admirers, can be felt.

According to the new statute, which came into effect on October 12, 2025, the prestigious plaques, which are a symbol of literary recognition, will be awarded again this year. The awards include the "Hristo Fotev" Award for poetry, the "Petko Rosen" Award for prose, and the "Pegasus" Award for poetry, prose, and literary criticism. The streets of the city seemed to echo with the stories and poems written under the pen of Burgas authors.

Local artists whose books were published between November 2024 and October 2025 have the opportunity to submit their works for participation. It is necessary to send five copies of their publications by November 1, 2025, to the address: Burgas Municipality, 26 Alexandrovska St., to the Deputy Mayor "Culture and Religions" - for the Annual Literary Review.

All submitted books will be reviewed by a five-member jury appointed by order of Mayor Dimitar Nikolov. The jury includes three representatives of the "Burgas Writers' Community" and two representatives of Burgas Municipality. The reports for poetry and prose will be prepared by jury members who are established authors, literary critics or university professors. The responsibility is enormous - the jury has the difficult task of evaluating the best works by Burgas artists.
