International Film Festival Burgas is preparing an intellectual event that promises an in-depth look at one of the most influential experiments in contemporary cinema. Tomorrow, on July 17 at 7:00 PM at the "Georgi Baev" Gallery, Dr. Elitsa Mateeva will present her new book "The Manifesto. Dogma 95. Reflections on the Latest Bulgarian Cinema".

The publication offers a profound critical analysis of the legendary Danish film movement that emerged in the 90s and caused a true revolution in cinematographic art. The author examines the ten strict rules introduced by the founders Thomas Vinterberg and Lars von Trier, which radically changed the understanding of film production.

Mateeva traces how the minimalist approach of "Dogma 95" eliminates technical effects and focuses on authentic human experience. Her research reveals how this philosophy influences contemporary Bulgarian cinema, creating a new aesthetic paradigm of honesty and emotional frankness.

The premiere will be moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lisa Boeva, which guarantees a high intellectual level of discussion. The event promises to reveal the deep transformations in cinematographic thinking arising from this revolutionary manifesto.

The book is published by the Moderat Foundation with the financial support of the National Culture Fund and is a significant study in the field of contemporary film art.

As for Dr. Mateeva herself – originally from Varna, her biography is extremely rich. Since 1999, she has been studying theater studies at NATFIZ, specializing in directing and consistently building an impressive professional career. As a critic, author, and director, she is the recipient of prestigious awards in the field of theater and film art.
