Children's writer Katya Antonova* will meet with children and parents in Burgas on February 25 to present her latest book, "Vanilla's Handbook for Good Deeds," to them. It collects nine stories in which the beloved fairy from the sugar bowl embarks on a quest to find the answer on how to truly do the right thing and help others.
"I can't wait to meet the children in Burgas and talk about good deeds. The handbook is a very special book for me, because in times when humanity, empathy, and kindness seem to be in ever greater deficit, I told stories exactly in their honor and in an accessible and understandable way. They don't carry that distant wisdom that we never seem to be ready for, but rather the one we know, but somehow forget, and it's useful to be reminded of. Especially in a light and fun way, and not with admonition – just as Vanilla knows how," shares Katya Antonova.
The meeting with the author of "The Fairy from the Sugar Bowl" and "Vanilla's Handbook for Good Deeds" will take place at the "Flora" expo center from 5:30 p.m. Admission is free, and the organizers promise many pleasant conversations, laughter, souvenir photos, and autographs.
The premiere of "Vanilla's Handbook for Good Deeds" took place at the end of last year, shortly after the eighth birthday of the Fairy from the Sugar Bowl. From its first edition to date, the six parts of the hit series have been published in a total print run of over 200,000 copies, and hundreds of thousands of Bulgarian children have grown up with them. Katya Antonova herself defines her latest book as a "melange," which has collected the best from "The Fairy from the Sugar Bowl" and another of her beloved works - "The Two Kingdoms." Although the heroine is a fairy, the book aims to help readers understand more about human relationships. Through fun stories, it helps both children and parents explain what true good is and how they could turn their intentions into deeds in their daily lives. The emblematic illustrations of the artist Mila Lozanova will also contribute to this.
"The handbook contains stories in which children will recognize themselves, but it will also offer them wonderful ideas on how to live a fuller life. We hope it will provoke conversations on important topics and bring moments of togetherness for the whole family. Of course, you will laugh – after all, this is Vanilla!" promises Katya Antonova.
*Katya Antonova is one of the most successful and award-winning Bulgarian authors of children's literature. "Fish" is also the name of her publishing house, thanks to which other children's books by Bulgarian and foreign authors reach the Bulgarian public.
