Burgas Regional History Museum will open an exhibition on 19 October at 2pm about sites linked to Cyril and Methodius and their disciples in Bulgaria, the museum said.

The exhibition is called "Following the Disciples' Trail. The Cyril and Methodius Route in Bulgaria – Part of the Council of Europe's European Cultural Route". It shows memorial sites of the Thessaloniki brothers and their followers across the Bulgarian lands.

The sites are anchor points on the Bulgarian section of the "Path of Cyril and Methodius" cultural route, which the Council of Europe certified in 2021.

Prof. Slavia Barlieva and Dr Elka Zlateva of the Cyril and Methodius Research Centre at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences developed the project. The Ministry of Culture funded it.

At the opening, Dr Totka Grigorova, chief assistant professor, will give a lecture titled "Letter – Word – Image: How Icons Tell the Story of the Work of Saints Cyril and Methodius". She is a researcher at the Cyril and Methodius Research Centre and teaches at Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski".

19 October is also the day of St John of Rila the Wonderworker. On the same date in 1909, the Day of the National Revival Figures was marked for the first time.

The talk "The Burgas Revival Figures" for primary, middle and high school pupils will also be held at the History Exhibition at 31 Lermontov Street. The museum announced it on 8 October.

The opening is at the History Exhibition building at 31 Lermontov Street in Burgas.
