The Adriana Budevska Drama Theatre will stage the comedy "The Illusion" by Pierre Corneille on 3 November at 7pm.
Nikolay Yordanov wrote the stage version and directs. Pencho Simov did the translation, David Ilchev designed the sets and costumes, David Kokonchev wrote the music and Hristo Hristov made the poster.
Seven actors play all the roles: Dobromir Tsvetkov, Lyubaslava Marinova, Navid Afzali, Nikol Karabinova, Nikolay Nikolaev, Nikolay Stoimenov and Tihomir Blagoev.
Yordanov says the play is a theatrical composition that sets the viewer against their own self and against the theatre. He built it as a show that tries to look like itself. Only that way, he believes, can one speak about the self and about reality, understood as the expectations we place on ourselves.
On stage, theatrical realities pile up and are taken apart to test the limits of the bloated, perfect self, the reflection in the mirror.
Yordanov asks where the two realities part, and whether they always exist side by side. "Which is more real – real life or the theatre?" he writes.
