Sofia University's Burgas branch opens its fourth academic year on October 3 at 10:00. The ceremony takes place at the Central Park complex in the Slaveykov district, 2 Dame Gruev Boulevard, the branch says.

Sofia University rector Eliza Stefanova and Georgi Bardarov, head of the Burgas branch, will open the year.

The first Korean language students start their studies this autumn. The bachelor's course sits under the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology and is the fourth of its kind in Burgas. Korean joins Japanese and Chinese, which the city began teaching in 2025.

Students from the "Music Media Technology and Sound Engineering" course will open with a musical greeting, and the ceremony will close with Japanese taiko drums.

Public lectures, open to all Burgas residents, start at 12:30 on the second floor of the complex. Georgi Bardarov will speak on "Nothing is impossible."

Senior assistant professor Miroslava Zaburtova, associate professor Yana Mancheva and Ms. Yang Boyun will give the lecture "From Hangul to K-pop: Korea Between Past and Present." It will cover how the Korean alphabet came about and what Korean traditions look like today.
