Burgas will host four days of theatre and stand-up comedy for children and adults from 12 to 15 November 2026. The second KALATA laughter festival will run on those dates, the organisers said. Entry is free for everyone.

This year's theme is women in Bulgarian comedy, and the programme includes four shows by women.

The full name of the event is "KALATA – Festival of Comedy and Laughter". Organisers set it up to mark 100 years since the birth of comic actor Georgi Kaloyanchev.

The Adriana Budevska Drama Theatre will stage a children's show and a comedy show. The one-person shows will take place at the Meden Rudnik Multifunctional Youth Centre, and the stand-up at the NHK Culture House.

Nikolay Urumov, producer of the films "Petya of My Petya" and "Women Out of Use", is the festival's creative director. The organisers say KALATA brings together generations and genres, offers laughter with depth, and mixes tradition with innovation.

Burgas council is paying for the festival. It also backs the city's bid to be European Capital of Culture in 2032.
