Festival of Indian Cinema and Culture in Burgas

Exoticism and vibrant color are taking over the seaside city, where the Municipality of Burgas, in close partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of India and the "Ayurveda" medical center, is organizing one of the most anticipated cultural events of the season. In the heart of the Sea Garden, at the "Ohlyuva" open-air stage, unforgettable evenings dedicated to India's rich heritage are about to begin, with a focus on its captivating cinema and ancient traditions. The event, which starts today, August 25, promises to transform the cool August evenings into a journey to the distant and mystical country.

Festival Program

The festival starts with a screening of the captivating sports drama "83" (India 2021, 2 hr. 45 min.). Directed by Kabir Khan, the film is a biographical account of the triumphant journey of the Indian national cricket team, which managed to win the World Cup in 1983. The film is a true ode to the power of spirit and teamwork.

The program continues on August 26 with the film "RRR" (India 2022, 3 hr. 07 min.), a work by director S. S. Rajamouli. This action-adventure masterpiece tells the thrilling story of two freedom fighters whose destinies are intertwined in an extraordinary way. The film is known for its impressive action scenes and the song "Naatu Naatu," which earned it the prestigious Academy Award.

On August 27, the audience will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the emotional journey of three friends with the film "You Only Live Once" ("Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara," India 2011, 2 hr. 33 min.), directed by Zoya Akhtar. The film follows their adventure in Spain, filled with romance, self-discovery, and unforgettable moments.

The culmination of the festival will be on August 28, when the audience will enjoy the elegance of Indian dances. The event will begin with a dance performance "Odissi Dance," presented by the "Kaya" School of Indian Dance, which will transport viewers into the world of classical Indian art. Following the dance performance, the evening will conclude with a screening of the film "English Vinglish" (family comedy, India 2012, 2 hr. 14 min.), directed by Gauri Shinde. The film tells a warm and inspiring story of a woman who finds the strength to rediscover herself by overcoming language barriers.
