Burgas will host the premiere of the book "Emigra ntski voli i nevolii" on September 30th, at 6:00 PM, in the "Petya Dubarova" hall of the "Morsko Kazino" Cultural Centre.
Judging by the rich history hidden between its pages, the event promises to be captivating.
The author, Boyko Antonov, will be presented by writer, editor, and publisher Todor Kostadinov.
Expectations are high, considering that "Emigra ntski voli i nevolii" tells the personal story of a Bulgarian emigrant who spent three decades in America.
The book is a journey through time and space, beginning with nostalgic memories of childhood and youth – innocent, sincere, but sometimes painful.
The stories gradually lead us to the heart of the matter: the trials of emigrant life.
In the eponymous text, Antonov shares his personal path to becoming a "average American" – a path marked by sacrifices and efforts, but also by the discovery of new horizons.
This process, emotionally saturated and simultaneously full of hope, will undoubtedly resonate with many.
The third part of the book takes us to unusual corners of the world – from Mexico to New Zealand – where the characters encounter diverse cultures, unexpected friendships, and adventures, often related to the sea, diving, and the underwater world.
In this way, the collection makes a captivating transition from an intimate confession to a universal experience – the search for home, meaning, and belonging, themes that are eternally relevant and excite many people around the world.
Boyko Antonov, originally from Plovdiv, combines his over 30-year stay in the USA with literary pursuits.
For the last 15 years, he has worked at the Library of Congress in Washington, which has brought him even closer not only to Bulgarian but also to world literature.
He is the author of publications in collections and literary websites, a translator, and a co-founder of cultural and educational initiatives of the Bulgarian community in America.
The premiere in Burgas provides a unique opportunity for the audience to meet the author and immerse themselves in the world of "Emigra ntski voli i nevolii", as Todor Kostadinov will present the book through his professional and personal prism – promising an unforgettable literary evening.
