On August 5 (Tuesday), the Burgas audience will have a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the latest film by the established Czech filmmaker Bohdan Slama - "Drought". The event is part of the popular summer initiative "Cinema under the Stars" and will take place at 21:00 on the open stage "Ohlyuva".

The film, created jointly by the Czech Republic, Germany, and Slovakia, with a duration of 114 minutes, provides an in-depth look at life in a contemporary Czech village. The director masterfully recreates the complex relationships between three generations, emphasizing the dynamics between different age groups.

At the center of the plot are two neighboring families that demonstrate contrasting approaches to everyday life. The oldest generation is characterized by a certain recklessness, while the young characters bring hope for better understanding and communication. A key moment in the narrative is the sudden illness of the mother, which can serve as a catalyst for rethinking the relationship between the community and the natural environment.

The cast includes prominent performers such as Dorota Šlejerová, Tomáš Šon Přenička, Magdalena Borová, Martin Pechlát, and Marek Daniel. The film is the result of the joint efforts of producers Pavel Sternad and Petr Oukropec.

Bohdan Slama has established himself as one of the most significant contemporary Czech filmmakers, continuing the traditions of the Czechoslovak New Wave. His remarkable career includes numerous prestigious awards, including the Tiger Award in Rotterdam for the debut film "Wild Bees" (2001) and the Golden Shell in San Sebastian for "Happiness" (2005).

In addition to being a director, Slama is also a respected lecturer - since 2008, he has been heading the Directing Department at the famous film school FAMU in Prague. Recently, he presented his newest film "The End of the World" (2024) at the 29th Sofia Film Fest, where he received the Special Award of the forum.
