The State Opera - Burgas will present again its impressive production of the operetta "The Gypsy Baron" by Johann Strauss Jr. on June 24 at 7 pm. The performance, directed by Mario Nikolov, will be conducted by Prof. Dr. Deyan Pavlov, who is a frequent guest on the Burgas stage. The action takes place in Hungary at the end of the 18th century, based on the libretto by Ignaz Schnitzer, created from the novel "Safi" by Mór Jókai.
The leading roles will be performed by established soloists of the Burgas Opera. Tenor Yani Nikolov will play the role of Sandor Barinkay, the landowner's son, banished into exile. Dramatic soprano Nona Krastnikova will embody the image of Safi, the daughter of the Gypsy fortune-teller Czipra, who turns out to be the daughter of the last Turkish pasha. The other soloists - Shvilena Sultanova, Yordan Hristozov, Maria Tsvetkova-Madjarova, Diman Panchev, Lina Peeva, Milen Dinolovi and Petar Tihonov, complete the impressive cast.
The performance is distinguished by lavish scenography, authored by Ivan Tokadzhiev, and rich costumes. The choreography is the work of Galina Kalcheva, and the accompanist is Hristo Belchev. The production is characterized by dynamic stage action, attractive costumes and special effects, such as fire swallowers and acrobats, presenting the passion and emotion of the Gypsy soul and the temperamental Hungarian folk traditions.
The audience will follow the tangled story of love, respect for family and traditions, as well as the most important treasure - that which is hidden in the human heart. The performance will be a truly dazzling amalgam of beautiful music, lavish visuals and excellent performers, who will make the viewers experience the magical fairytale reality unfolding against the backdrop of the tempestuous music of Johann Strauss Jr.
Tickets for "The Gypsy Baron" on June 24 can be purchased from the Opera Box Office, the "Clock" Ticket Center, as well as online through the Grabo and Eventim platforms.
