For centuries, the Far East has captured the imagination of Europeans with its mysticism and the sense of a different rhythm of time. Life there is built upon a unique philosophy, and its people are striking in their introversion, inner harmony, and reserve. These qualities have not only fueled the Western imagination but have also become a large-scale trend, driving the development of entire marketing industries. Today, however, it is time to ask ourselves whether our perception of this region is still relevant.

The East is long past being just a symbol of spirituality and ancient traditions; it faces the dynamic challenges of modernity. It is true that we have much to learn from these cultures, but they could likely learn from us as well. Although the picture is not black and white, one thing is certain – the Far East remains an incredibly captivating place. In an attempt to understand what makes this world so different and why, we have curated a selection of short and documentary films from China, Taiwan, Japan, Nepal, and Thailand. The screenings will offer diverse viewpoints and explore the region through various aesthetic prisms.

The event will take place on September 25, 2026, at 7:00 PM, and admission is free.
